Student Design Competition Site Is Live

The Challenge Begins

Philly-Streets-shutterstock_97749506 resizedThe wait is over – you can now dig in to the challenge set forth by GRAPHISOFT North America, the makers of ARCHICAD, in partnership with noted ARCHICAD firm, Kitchen & Associates and AIA West Jersey, a section of AIA-NJ. Our official website hosting the inaugural student design competition, coinciding with this year’s AIA 2016 Convention is live.

The Setting

As Philadelphia hosts the 2016 AIA National Convention, the city continues its long tradition of serving as a colorful backdrop to dozens of concerts, conventions, sporting events and festivals annually. With so many wonderful venues in one historic place – wouldn’t it be great if the city had a way to welcome those various event attendees in a cohesive and effective manner?

We challenge you to position Philadelphia’s rich history in front of the millions of tourists who visit it annually by using ARCHICAD to design a temporary, mobile visitor center from shipping containers. You can use as many containers as you want. Make them portable, self-contained and interactive. Give the containers a way to responds to the various sites in which it could be situated. We bet your creative juices are already flowing.

The Reward

Cash prizes! We’ve secured a total of $3,000 in prizes to be awarded to a first, second and third place winner – to be determined by a board of judges made up of GRAPHISOFT staff, AIANJ board members, and professionals from K&A as well as professors from local universities. This exposure gives entrants a unique opportunity to have their skills reviewed by firm principals who are actively seeking new talent.

So what are you waiting for? Visit the site today – so you can get started on the project.

Thank you and good luck!
